My questions are...
How was the band started and who helped it on its way?
Key idea: the band was started as a "Working mans orchestra" and was helped to acheive this by sponsers and excellent players\counductors
What were the major events through out the bands history?
Key idea: The major events consist of mostly competition success but also includes events like ther war.
What was the band like when it started and how has it changed over the years?
Key idea:origonally practiced in a garage and differant members and associates have brought more to the band to make it what it is today.
How has the band affected Christchurch?
Key idea: the band has created a sence of community pride in Woolston, Christchurch and in NewZealand

Woolston band was origionally for the men in woolston as a recreationall activity. Skellerup rubber manufactuers where thier main sponser and the band remains skellerup woolston to this day. There have been a wide range of players and conducters ranging from NZ national bands men to salvation army conductors. The band had some rough patches like the war which disrupted the band when many of its players went over seas to serve and other times the band triumphed when at full force sweeping away the competition to become one of the top brass bands in austrlasia. The band's successes where affected differantly by diferant conductors. There where few that lowered the standardas most where very skilled musicians. Right from the start woolston has been a community band but only recently has it opened its doors to junior players who wish to learn to play. Woolston brass has and will create a sence of pride in our city and in our country, something that is important for such a small island at the bottem of the world.
